Industry touts major Mancos Shale play Estimates point to 6B barrels of recoverable oil

ARMINGTON – The San Juan Basin could be headed toward a renaissance in natural-gas and oil drilling if rosy expectations touted by industry officials at Monday’s San Juan Basin Energy Conference hold true.

“In the southern part of the basin, the Mancos play has the potential to revitalize declining San Juan Basin oil production and also has a tremendous amount of future gas production in the northern part of the basin,” said Ron Broadhead, a principal…

H2S and H-9's

I have been looking at different posts and reading statements regarding concerns of H2S and safety.

I have many friends in the area which state the concentrations are very high all up and down the EFS.

So I went the they have a really old and slow system, but with a little persistence and digging I believe I understand.

H-9's are submitted before a well is…

Atascosa - drilling permits north of Poteet

I came across this site recently when preparing presentations for family owned minerals in Brazoria County pertaining to the Clemens Salt Dome and the old West Columbia field which Jetta acquired from Chevron and is now developing previously overlooked oil reservoirs. I found the information on this site useful and up-to-date.

Beware The Allure Of Shale ‘Mailbox Money’

Attorney Spotlight: Ben Elmore

If a land man calls with an offer of “mailbox money” for the mineral rights on your property, read closely before signing on the dotted line. If you don’t, oil and gas lawyer Ben Elmore said the words above it may come back to haunt you.

Mailbox money is a slang term of the shale era. “You wake up one day and you get a call from a land man” promising $1,000 an acre and a 20 percent royalty on oil and gas production from your…

When Looking to Hire a Driver Safety Training Company, What do you look for?

Certifications are good and if meeting regulatory requirements is going to be the metric you measure success then certifications are the way to go. If success is going to be measured by actual reductions in preventable accidents then a combination of experience and certifications is needed.

One of the…

‘Antifragile’ Modular Construction

A recent WSJ article highlights the concerns associated with development within shale oil and gas plays. Many Shale Oil and Gas Economies are resource-constrained (in both labor and materials) because of rapid growth but also because of the fear that the boom may go bust. Oil prices are extremely volatile. There is reasonable reluctance by investors and local governments to ‘go long’, to make the necessary and expensive long…
