This may have been discussed at length at some point on this forum so please forgive me if I'm repeating a question that may have been answered.
Six years ago CHK drilled wells with 5000ft laterals; recently they have come back and drilled wells with 10,000ft laterals. The surprising thing to me is that initial per day production was about the same. I may be a little naive when it come to this business but my thought was a 10,000ft lateral would produce more per day than a 5000ft lateral. My wife stated that maybe its no different using a 50ft water hose vs a 100ft water hose; you're going to get the same amount of water! Lol! Now I know its more complicated than that but I would appreciate any educated explanation anyone may be able to give me. Thanks!
